Jared & Belinda - Braemar Lodge, 17 Nov 2021

Bride Groom portrait in veil

Ces Photography

Throughout their relationship, Jared and Belinda have developed their own understanding of what love means to them. Love is all of the little things in life - Like when Jared starts up the car on a frosty morning for Belinda and makes her a coffee while she gets ready… It is Belinda agreeing to watch reruns of Gold Rush or Fast and Loud. Love is Jared and Belinda’s two beautiful children who made them parents - and have completed their family. Love is accepting one another for themselves, and being there unconditionally.

We had the best day ever and everyone loved the ceremony.

Brent & Kristy - KAIAPOI CLUB, 27 NOV 2021

Photo taken by a friend

Brent and Kristy’s story began when Kristy was looking for a new flatmate. Brent needed a place to live and Kristy needed help with the rent. Neither was looking for romance - yet, the pair just clicked… and despite being initially unsure about ruining the ‘good flatmates’ vibe, they were soon a couple. Some would say it was meant to be!

Brent and Kristy both describe their love as ‘easy’ - it’s never a chore and it feels like they just ‘work’. They’ve never felt this way about anyone else before.

From the first contact with Vic, we knew we were in safe hands... She was so calming, and thorough on the day. She had everything under control and wouldn’t let us fall. Thanks so much Vic, you really helped make our day.

Mack & Livvy - Family Farm, 4 Dec 2021

Love is love, two brides

Meg Elizabeth Photography

Livvy and Mackenzie’s journey began when they met in 2016. Their relationship very quickly developed. Within a few months they moved in together and have since bought their first home. The pair have always talked about getting married, right from the first few months together, so in June 2020 on a holiday to Queenstown, they decided on a whim to get engaged. They even thought about getting married right then and there but thought their families would kill them!! Instead, they were married at Livvy’s family farm - with only one small drama… a fire that blocked that ONLY route to the venue!

Vic is very well organised and made us both feel at ease. She was also available to explain the whole process and give advice at any time. She made us both feel so comfortable and fitted in perfectly with both our families. Our ceremony being delayed was no issue at all for Vic, and she kept us and all the guests in the loop. We are sad we can’t get married again as it was such a pleasure to spend time with Vic!

James & Jordain - Waipuna Estate, 6 Jan 2022

Bride Groom first kiss wedding

Emily Hugo Photography

When I asked these two what they love about each other, they said that their relationship is built on a solid foundation of friendship - the kind of friendship that they can’t live without. They support each other, lift each other up, and help each other to be the best they can be. And of course, they both have a deep love for their family and friends… They told me that seeing everyone come together over the past 4 years has meant the world to them both.

We can’t thank you enough for officiating our special day! Everything went so smoothly thanks to you. Your presence and warm nature was so suited to our day and anyone would be lucky to have you as their celebrant.
— J & J

Hayden & Hollie (my dear friends!!) - RiverRidge Retreat, 8 Jan 2022

Husband Wife bride groom ceremony

Peanut Productions

It was such a privilege to be Hayden and Hollie’s celebrant! I have known them for about 7 years and it meant the world to share their special day with them. LOVED getting to stay on and party afterwards, too!

Hayden and Hollie’s story began at a mutual friend’s flat-warming in Palmerston North. Hayden says that he was taken with Hollie straight away - although he didn’t let on, choosing to play it cool for most of the night while Hollie followed him around trying to get his attention. He finally asked for her number towards the end of the night, only to continue playing it cool, not texting for a further five days! He later explained - ‘treat ‘em mean, keep ‘em keen’... a strategy that, in fairness, clearly paid off? Or perhaps Hollie whipped him into shape!

Vic was our celebrant a few weeks ago and she was outstanding! Her coms leading up to the day were always quick and super helpful - providing all the information we needed. She put together a ceremony that was so special and perfect for us, and we got so much lovely feedback from our guests, not just on the ceremony but Vic in general. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a celebrant! ❤

Regan & Susie - Riccarton House, 15 Jan 2022

bride groom wedding rings

Susannah Blatchford Photography

Regan and Susie’s story began in 2016 while Susie was on a teaching placement at Christchurch Boys’ High School. Over those 7 weeks, their friendship grew as they got to know each other, and the very second that placement was over, they knew it was the beginning of something special.

Regan and Susie describe love as having a best friend and romantic relationship all wrapped up in one. Love is having someone that you can rely on, who understands your differences, and is 100% willing to have a good time with you. It’s about having someone you can grow old with, and share successes and failures with.

Vic was easy to communicate with leading up to the ceremony, and we loved the Google doc that we could just add to when we had a spare moment. Rehearsal ceremony was easy and on the day Vic made it all super straight forward for us. Our family felt that Vic was really relatable and organised and my bridesmaid has asked me to pass on details for her wedding so fingers crossed she gets in touch!

Jordan & Natahlia - Cossars Wineshed, 22 Jan 2022

bride groom with dog

Stanley Pictures

Over the years, this pair have grown in love with each other. As they describe it, love isn’t just a word for them - it’s their actions. It’s enjoying spending time together, taunting and teaching each other, having bucket loads of fun... Love is looking after Pablo, the centre of their universe, and being the very best of friends.

As R.M. Drake says - “You will be the clouds and I will be the sky. You will be the ocean and I will be the shore. You will be the trees and I will be the wind. Whatever we are, you and I will always collide.”

Thanks for everything! We couldn’t be happier at the outcome of the day!! Was just wonderful. Thanks again for the vow help and your patience with us getting you our program lol! You were awesome.

Jamie & Emma - Trents Vineyard, 18 Feb 2022

Bride Groom - Just married

Pip & Oz Photography

Jamie and Emma’s story began at a Christmas work function. Emma broke her shoe - yes, it’s sounding a little like Cinderella, isn’t it? And ended up having to stay seated for the whole night! Jamie came over and Emma felt like she was being interviewed for the prestigious role of Jamie’s girlfriend, what with the 20 questions he was firing her way. Thankfully, Jamie quickly realised that this wasn’t the way to woo her, backed off a touch and made a funny joke instead. They hit it off - and to this day, don’t remember what the joke was but it was clearly a winner.

Vic was absolutely amazing and helped us through every step of the way of our ceremony. We would highly recommend her as a celebrant and we had so many compliments on our ceremony and what a great job Vic did 💜
— J & E

Brendon & Laura - Trents Vineyard, 19 Feb 2022

bride groom first kiss

Bridget de Paula Photography

Brendon and Laura’s story began about ten years ago, when Brendon was living with Jamie, one of Laura’s closest friends. Shortly after the pair was introduced, Laura actually moved into the flat, and just never left! The rest is history… In the years since, they’ve become parents to their two beautiful daughters. Whanaungatanga is incredibly important to them - the forming, maintaining and strengthening of relationships - and Brendon and Laura’s role as parents is the glue that holds their relationship together. It provides them with the foundation for a sense of belonging, teamwork, and ‘home’.

Thank you so much again for officiating our wedding. You were amazing. You have such a warm and calming presence, and you made us feel so comfortable during our ceremony. I will definitely be recommending you to anyone for their special day!
— B & L

Ricky & Raya (my beautiful FRIEND!) - Backyard, 26 Feb 2022

bride groom

J.MC Photography

When asked what they love about each other, Ricky and Raya said that they would both do anything for their family, especially their two beautiful children - who Ricky loves as his own. They know that they have an amazing connection, and a deep understanding of what they both want. They know their love is very strong and they push each other to be the best versions of themselves that they can be. Love in Ricky and Raya’s words is knowing what the other is thinking… it’s having each other’s backs - whether it’s making that cuppa tea, running the bath or just being together after a long day. Their motto is ‘It is what it is’ and ‘As long as we have our family, it’s all ok!’.

We just want to say thank you so much, my beautiful friend Vic. You made our day so easy, you are so well organised and your communication was perfect. We couldn’t have asked to a better celebrant. ❤❤

Chris & Sam - Waipuna Estate, 5 March 2022

Bride groom confetti aisle

Kelly Shakespeare Photography

Chris and Sam’s story began in the most romantic of ways… on Tinder. After the pair matched, a few messages were exchanged, and it wasn’t long before Chris slyly asked for Sam’s number. Next thing, they were meeting up for a boogie and a cheeky pash at Baretta.

In Chris and Sam’s words, marriage is chilling out together with the dogs. It’s coffee in the mornings, walks on the beach, and cuddles on the couch. Marriage is choosing to stick by each other, not judging, and knowing that some days will be a struggle, and some will be the best they’ve ever had.

We were so, so happy with our wedding ceremony on Saturday. Thank you so much for all your help with planning and for officiating our marriage. We were so happy and both thought you did an incredible job. Chris told me after that I nailed the celebrant choice haha and he was also so happy with how it ran! Thanks again for all of your help! I will be recommending you to people 🙂

Ryan & Mikaela - Cossars Wineshed, 18 Mar 2022

When asked what love means to them, Ryan and Mikaela said… Love is the way that we communicate with each other. It is unconditional support through thick and thin, and it is the glue that will hold us together when everything else is stripped away. Love is the feeling we have every time we share a glance, a joke or a smile. Love is early morning cuddles with the kids in bed and playing paper, scissors, rock to see whose turn it is to sleep in. Love is what brought us together and it is the reason we are here today.

Lota & Rose - Darjon vineyard, 25 Mar 2022

Bride groom aisle petals just married

Ces Photography

Rose and Lota’s story began 12 years ago - on a school night, no less! They were out with their friends at a bar, played it like they knew each other, and the rest is history… Just a casual ten years down the track, with two knee surgeries under his belt, Lota decided he was finally capable of getting down on one of them - and during a beautiful sunset at Mt Maunganui, he asked Rose to marry him.

Thank you so much, we could not have imagined our ceremony to be any more perfect. You were amazing to work with.

Simon & helena - cashmere, 26 Mar 2022

Simon and Helena had been friends for a long time before their relationship began. One day, when they were hanging out, driving around as usual, they went up the Port Hills to Victoria Park and found a spot to sit. It was at this moment that Helena plucked up the courage and said "I like like you". Simon said "I like like you too". Then they both got 'hypothermia' because they didn't want the moment to end and hadn't dressed for the weather.

V E Photography (Victoria Ellison)

Vic was our celebrant and she did an amazing job. She helped make the process easy and was able to accommodate a name change and point us in the right direction. She was very warm and welcoming in our initial meeting and had a user friendly google doc to customise our ceremony just the way we wanted. Communications leading up to the wedding were excellent and helpful, especially while navigating changing Covid requirements. Vic was able to make some last minute changes to our ceremony at our rehearsal and crafted the words so carefully. She delivered our ceremony so eloquently and heartfelt, with just the right touch of humour. We would highly recommend Vic to any couples tying the knot.

Will & Sally - Pemberton Gardens, 27 Mar 2022

Bride Groom aisle petals just married

Meg Elizabeth Photography

William and Sally describe love as friendship, trust, and patience. Love means accepting each other during highs and lows, and always being there to help out - whether it’s doing the cleaning or making big life decisions. Through the many adventures they have shared, the pair has come to realise that as long as they are together, they can conquer anything life throws at them.

W - Vic was amazing to work with. She was patient, organised and amazing at walking us through the entire process. Creating our ceremony was super easy with her advice and she even gave us tips on how to write our vows. On the day she ran the ceremony like a boss and made everyone feel at ease. Many of our guests complimented Vic and the amazing job she did. Would highly recommend.

S - We loved how you were super organised and onto it when we were not! You were nothing but patient when we had to postpone our wedding and pick a new date. We liked that the process was simple and how we could contact you at any time. This gave us a lot of confidence in you and enabled us to go ahead with the wedding without even meeting you before hand. On the day, the weather was perfect and so were you! Having your smiling face at the end was reassuring and your calm presence really helped! Your professionalism meant we felt at ease and comfortable confessing our love in front of everyone.

Sam & Chanel - Botanic Gardens, 9 April 2022

Bride gazing at groom

Sparkes Photography Co

Sam and Chanel opted for a simple personalised ceremony with a set script, choosing to write their own vows to share with each other on the day.

“I love that I can be myself around you without judgment and be accepted for who I am. We are best friends.”

“You are my truest friend and where you are is where I belong.”

With the madness of organising a wedding, it can be stressful trying to figure out how to organise the ceremony, how it runs and what to say. Vic brought a calmness to the process, took control and we were able to relax, trust her and follow her lead to create and have the perfect ceremony that went off without a hitch. We were very grateful for her support and direction on the day and highly recommend her.

Jordan & Chiara - Pemberton, 10 April 2022

Bride groom sunset

Susannah Blatchford Photography

One could say that Jordan and Chiara have already been together for a lifetime! 13 has personally always been my lucky number - and must be for these two as well, because after 13 years, they were finally hitched!

Throughout their relationship, Jordan and Chiara have become each other’s favourite person. They have learned the art of both sacrifice and compromise - encouraging each other to follow their dreams and aspirations, no matter where the journey takes them.

It was so lovely meeting you yesterday and finally getting married. Thank you for everything - you are such an awesome person, you made everything flow so easily, and made us feel so comfortable. Your personality alone is so refreshing. Thank you again!

Luke & Viv

Luke and Vivienne’s journey began on the night of the Year 13 Burnside Ball, where they were matched by their friend, Leroi, who was also a groomsman. They met just before the ball, and spent most of the night being incredibly awkward around each other. It was the start of a great friendship that, with the right timing, turned into a relationship... a short 4 years later.

COURTYARD WEDDING

02 OCTOBER 2021 - COSSARS WINESHED

Luke and Vivienne’s journey began on the night of the Year 13 Burnside Ball, where they were matched by their friend, Leroi, who was also a groomsman. They met just before the ball, and spent most of the night being incredibly awkward around each other. It was the start of a great friendship that, with the right timing, turned into a relationship... a short 4 years later.

The pair were married on a still, sunny day in the beautiful courtyard at Cossars Wineshed. We were so grateful that the wedding was able to go ahead with Covid restrictions in place, with overseas guests joining us through a live stream. Safia, the owner of Cossars, had done a magnificent job of setting up the space to be warm and inviting. The colours were spectacular - the green of the trees, terracotta pots with flowers, and bright yellow lemons… it was simply glorious.

Tegan Clark Photography

Viv entered with her Mum on one side and Dad on the other. She looked stunning. As the music built, the tissues came out! And the guests didn’t know what hit them when Luke and Viv chose to share vows they had written themselves… I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

“You'll often be asked the question, when did you decide you wanted to get married? I don't know the day, the time or the moment when I figured out I was ready, but I know that I've been ready since we got engaged a year ago, since a few months before that when I was picking out the ring, and definitely some time before that when I was wondering what our life was going to be like together in the future. I don't need to wonder anymore, because we're here, living each day together, and I get to look forward to each and every next day, with you by my side.”

“I want to thank you for pushing me to follow my passion and dreams, even when it’s out of my comfort zone. Without you, I wouldn’t have had the courage to start over and be the person that I am today. You knew how scary it was for me and you continued to support me through it all. Because of you, my life has been filled with joy and happiness.”

Honestly, you have been so amazing and great to work with! Our ceremony was exactly how we envisioned it to be and we couldn’t be any happier with how everything went! The planning and communication was really straightforward and easy. You were very prompt with emails which meant that there were no delays when it came to planning. The tips sent to us on how to write our vows and how to create what needed to be said during the ceremony was really helpful too!

Isaac & Nina

COURTYARD WEDDING

20 FEBRUARY 2021 - COSSARS WINESHED

Bride Groom portrait.jpg

Isaac and Nina took Covid restrictions in their stride - no longer able to have the Fiji beach wedding they were hoping for, “Take 2!” was instead held in the beautiful courtyard at Cossars Wineshed. The vintage couches and festoon lights set the scene… and it was utterly gorgeous.

Throughout Issac and Nina’s relationship, they have learned that true love is not a fantasy, but something that they must consciously choose every day. As well as everyday adventures, they have experienced the hardship of family loss, and the joys of parenting together - and are stronger for it.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

Isaac and Nina’s ceremony was full of laughter. We all cracked up when Isaac had to dash from the ceremony to find a forgotten page from the handwritten vows… and when I asked Matthias for the rings, but he had cooler things to do and had disappeared to play (Alyssa shouted for him at the top of her lungs and he came running!).

Simon & Vanessa

Simon and Vanessa’s ceremony was held on an absolute scorcher of a day at a stunning spot in Methven!

METHVEN WEDDING

19 FEBRUARY 2021 - AWA AWA RATA RESERVE, METHVEN

Bride and Groom golden sunset portrait in field.JPG

Simon and Vanessa’s ceremony was held on an absolute scorcher of a day at a stunning spot in Methven! They had an epic team of vendors on board - I’ve linked them below so that you can check them out.

Simon and Vanessa's relationship began on a Facebook ‘singles’ page. After a few days chatting, Vanessa decided to take Simon some lunch. They met on the side of the road near where he was working in Waipara... As Vanessa says, "A way to a man's heart is through his stomach!” - One dinner later, they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend, and the rest is history.

Before the ceremony started, Simon was extremely emotional. He is head over heels for Vanessa and couldn’t believe their wedding day had finally arrived. Best Man, Nick, was a great support - taking Simon to one side and having a chat with him in the shade before the bridal party made their entrance. I was touched by their strong friendship. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Vanessa made her way down the aisle!

Remembrance candle.JPG

A wedding day is often a day when couples miss those who can’t be with them. We acknowledged Des, Simon’s groomsman and Vanessa's brother, who couldn’t make it due to Covid travel restrictions. Vanessa’s Aunty Joy also lit a candle in remembrance of Vanessa’s Dad, Ian.

Ceremony reading.JPG

A great way to include loved ones is through readings. Simon’s gorgeous wee cousin shared ‘Love is Giving’ with us.

“Love is giving not taking,

Mending not breaking,

Trusting, believing, never deceiving, patiently bearing and faithfully sharing,

Each joy, every sorrow, today and tomorrow.

Love is kind, understanding, but never demanding,

Love is constant, prevailing, its strength never failing,

A promise once spoken for all time unbroken,

Love’s time is forever.”

Simon and Vanessa chose to write their own vows which they shared with each other for the very first time during their ceremony.

“…You are beautiful, smart and strong, and I will love you every day for the rest of our lives together...”

“…My heart still skips a beat when I get that phone call - that you are on your way home from work. I love you today, tomorrow and for the rest of my life…”

Bride and Groom laughing under archway.JPG

Afterwards, the guests had nibbles and drinks together then made their way to Ski Time for a wonderful evening of yummy food, speeches and dancing.

All the best to this loved-up couple! xx

Cam & Ione

OFFICIATING FOR ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS!

6 FEBRUARY 2021 - WINSFORD GARDENS, AUCKLAND

Aside from my own wedding, Cam and Ione’s was my favourite of all time! As someone who has known Ione since the early days of high school, this ceremony was particularly special for me. She is such a treasure, and our friendship is one I value dearly. I’m choking up just re-living their beautiful celebration now… in fact, I really have no idea how I held it together on the day! This was also my first ceremony where I knew a number of the guests, making it all the more significant to me.

In the months leading up to the ceremony, we worked closely together to create a script that perfectly captured the essence of Cam and Ione’s relationship. We included details about how the pair met, some relationship milestones and Cam’s epic proposal (that Ione did not make easy!).

On the day, Ione chose to enter from the side of the garden, not down a traditional aisle. I always love to highlight to couples that the beauty of a personalised ceremony is that you have the freedom to do what works for you! She looked absolutely stunning.

It was important to Cam and Ione to share what marriage means to them and to acknowledge that it requires conscious effort. “As time and life changes you, remember that continuing to nourish your relationship is a choice - and when you choose to find your greatest joy in the company of each other, marriage offers opportunities for sharing and growth that no other human relationship can equal.” They also chose to write their own vows and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Perfection.

Bride laughing during vows.jpg

“…Ione, you are my best friend and soulmate, and you make every day of my life a surprise. Your energy and ambition are what drew me towards you, and I love the feeling of always being on the go with you. You can’t sit still. I love that when I’m with you there is never a dull moment. We’ve been to so many places and achieved so much already but I know today is only the beginning…”

“…Cameron - God, I love you. How incredible that we both get to be on this earth right now, and that among billions of people alive, and the zillions that came before us, we managed to collide in this strange, beautiful whirlwind of life. How sweet it is to be here with you today and to declare to the world that I adore you. You’re my best mate, my favourite person…”

Bride and Groom exiting ceremony as husband and wife under handfuls of petals.jpg

After the ceremony, I had the privilege of attending the reception which was a super chilled out ‘walk-and-fork’ affair. Think classy house party… complete with lawn games and a bonfire. A major highlight was listening to the MC - Cam and Ione’s seven year old nephew - who was hilarious. I was so impressed. I got to hang out with my Mum, Dad and gorgeous husband, as well as catch up with some of my best mates who were also there to celebrate. Best night ever!!

Thank you so much for sharing your day with me. I love you both and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you xx

AROHA NUI,

Vic xxx

Photographer - Richard Ng

Vic was wonderful to work with from start to finish. She was enthusiastic about our wedding and was super supportive and knowledgeable when it came to questions we had. She had some great suggestions and tips for how to make the ceremony run smoothly, and really listened to what we wanted out of the day.

We felt so confident during the lead up to our wedding, and on the day, knowing that she had everything in hand. We both loved how encouraging and supportive she was at the ceremony itself, reminding us to take our time and focus on each other, as she guided us through the process. Vic is an all-round delight to work with; if you’re looking for a celebrant, stop, you’ve found her. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story can make all the difference.

Kurtus & Lily

GARDEN WEDDING

4 MARCH 2021 - HALSWELL QUARRY

Wedding in local reserve featuring Japanese inspired bridge

Kurtus and Lily were married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. They chose a secluded spot in the beautiful Songpa-Gu Gardens at Halswell Quarry. If you haven’t visited, I highly recommend going for a walk around the ‘Sister Gardens’. This particular garden has a botanical collection that represents Korea, as well as our own landscape here in Canterbury.

Songpa-Gu Gardens - non-traditional archway featuring framed couple portrait

Kurtus and Lily chose to break tradition in a few ways! That is the beauty of a personalised ceremony, my friends… you can make it totally your own. Instead of an archway, the pair set up in front of one of the monuments, using a framed photograph of themselves to mark where they were going to stand. They also opted not to have a first kiss - an epic, and rather spontaneous fist pump sealed this marriage!

This was my last ceremony of the season before beginning my maternity leave… and I was ready to pop! Maia Elizabeth Jo arrived 9 days later and I have since been settling into life as an earthside māmā. Our wee whānau is doing really well! I have been sharing a few updates over on Instagram @victoriathomas.celebrant - if you’re interested, prepare your ovaries and head on over for some super cute baby snaps.

AROHA NUI,

Everything was great! Couldn’t have asked for a better person to help us continue our next chapter.

Matt & Steph

GARDEN WEDDING

23 JANUARY 2021 - BRAMBLE GROVE, KAIAPOI

Bride and Groom portrait.jpg

Matt and Steph were married at the lovely Bramble Grove in Kaiapoi. I was so excited to finally get a chance to visit and I was not disappointed! The intimate backyard setting complete with an outdoor bar had a relaxed atmosphere that the guests absolutely loved.

One of my favourite parts of Matt and Steph’s ceremony was chatting with Matt and his groomsmen beforehand… hearing how the morning had been, doing a final run-through of the script, and calming those pre-ceremony nerves. I love it when a groom acknowledges and allows himself to express his emotions in the lead up to one of the most significant experiences he is ever going to share with his future partner. And who could blame him for being completely overwhelmed with love? Steph was glowing… honestly, the only word I can use is ‘radiant.’ Her smile throughout the day was simply the best and Mel from Mel’s Moments captured her perfectly. The photos speak for themselves.

“Steph, as I stand here with you today, I feel like the luckiest man in the world. I want nothing more than to share my future with you…”

“Matt, you are everything that I could ever dream of in a man. You are my lover, my best friend, my protector, my soulmate, and my home…”

Bride and Groom touching noses and smiling at each other.jpg

A few other highlights…

  • The most gorgeous wee flower girl and ringbearers - such a great way to include children in their special day!

  • Finally meeting Mel. I was so grateful that she looked after me in the heat - what an absolute gem.

  • One of the guests approaching me after the ceremony and saying how much he had enjoyed it. He explained that he struggles with his hearing but had found my delivery clear and easy to understand. I was touched that he took the time to come and chat - it really meant a lot getting positive feedback.

Thank you both so much for sharing your special day with me xxx it was magical.

Nitin & Krina

Nitin and Krina celebrated their love with a full wedding weekend. They held their Hindu ceremony at the Lincoln Events Centre on Saturday and their legal ceremony at Pemberton Gardens on Saturday.

GARDEN WEDDING

Nitin and Krina celebrated their love with a full wedding weekend. They held their Hindu ceremony at the Lincoln Events Centre on Saturday and their legal ceremony at Pemberton Gardens on Saturday. After hearing so much about Pemberton Gardens, I was really excited to officiate Nitin and Krina’s wedding ceremony there. It was well worth the wait! Such a stunning venue - lush gardens complete with bunny rabbits hopping around, a range of different spaces to use - and best of all, blankets and hot water bottles on a chilly day!

Nitin and Krina are a super relaxed couple and wanted their special day to be full of laughter. We all cracked up when the mic cut out just as Nitin said ‘I do!’ and Krina had to reassure the guests… ‘HE DOES!’

Their vows were funny too…

Bride and Groom exchanging vows.jpg

…from the opening lines…

“Nitin, the day has finally come - who knew that when we were introduced and spoke for all of 30 seconds before you ran away that we’d be standing here today.”

“Krina, I'm so proud to be sharing this special moment of our lives with our friends and family today.  From the weekend I came up to Auckland to hang out with you for the first time, to the time you craved a trip to Nandos for a feast, I knew you were a keeper!“

…to their promises…

“…And lastly, I promise to try and be more comforting when the Crusaders beat the Hurricanes even though I’m rather pleased on the inside…”

“I promise to listen to you (even if you have to repeat yourself three times)…”

Nitin and Krina were so much fun to work with! I only wish they lived in Christchurch so we could hang out!!

All the best for your next chapter xx I know you won’t be strangers.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Vic as our celebrant and sharing our ceremony with us. We had our initial meeting via Skype during lockdown and instantly knew she was perfect for us! She made the process so easy and catered to what we were after, we really couldn’t have asked for anything more - thank you so much Vic xxx

Nic & Rose

Rose and Nic were married in an intimate wedding ceremony with their closest family and friends.

GARDEN WEDDING

12 DECEMBER 2020 - PEMBERTON GARDENS, CANTERBURY

Bride and Groom photoshoot - kissing by fountain.jpg

Rose and Nic were married in an intimate ceremony with their closest family and friends. The sun was shining and everyone was stoked to be there. In my opinion, it was the perfect garden party - the setting was elegant and classy, and all the ‘little details’ complimented each other beautifully.

Rose and Nic broke tradition in a number of ways. They had a ‘first look’ before the ceremony, Rose walked herself down the aisle, and the pair shared a kiss and cuddle when she got there. It was exactly how a personalised wedding ceremony should be… uniquely their own, a perfect reflection of their values and beliefs.

“Rose, I couldn’t be happier than I am standing here today, about to take another step along the winding road with you. This does not mark the beginning of our adventure, because we have already been through so much together, but the continuation of our story that started the day I met you. This day will solidify the bond that we’ve always had, and bring us into the next chapter in our lives.”

“Nic, I can’t be certain of what our future may hold, but I am certain that we will face it together, with our love for each other as the foundation of every success and setback. I am inspired by who you are; persistent, thoughtful, generous and sensitive. I will always be grateful that you show your love for me with these qualities. I stand here today, and every day ahead of us, to give myself to you, promising to weather whatever will be as your loving wife and best friend.”

Right from the word ‘go’, Rose and Nic treated me like a friend they had known for years. I loved our communication throughout the planning process - flicking quick messages back and forth, or chatting on the phone about the order of service, wording of vows, and back-up plans incase Covid decided to rain on our parade. On the day, I felt so appreciated by these two beautiful humans. I was overwhelmed with hugs, kind words and was even invited to be in the group photo after the ceremony. It meant a lot to me.

I am already so excited for the adventures you are about to have. All the best for your next chapter xx

Thank you so much for all your help. The Google doc to create the ceremony was a real asset and easy to navigate. Vic, you have a real gift for hearing what couples want and helping curate something really personal. From day 1 you had ideas and ways of bringing it all together to perfect a modern ceremony.

It was a pleasure to share our wedding day with you and we felt so well supported by you through the entire process. We had guests say how impressed they were by you and also note that you stood to the side the whole time and how that was visually much more impressive than typical celebrants.

Can’t wait to see you become a mum to your gorgeous pēpi, wishing you all the best.

Andrew & Jess

Self-professed ‘Star Wars Nerds’ Andrew and Jess were married on a hot, windy day at Westhaven Gardens, after postponing their ceremony due to Covid earlier in the year.

COVID CAN’T BEAT LOVE!

31 OCTOBER 2020 - WESTHAVEN GARDENS, CHRISTCHURCH

Bride and Groom kissing behind Star Wars masks.jpg

Self-professed ‘Star Wars Nerds’ Andrew and Jess were married on a hot, windy day at Westhaven Gardens, after postponing their ceremony due to Covid earlier in the year.

The venue was simply stunning! I was blown away by the manicured gardens, lush green lawns and intimate wee chapel. Andrew and Jess set up a marquee for the reception, as well. There were plenty of trees for shade before the ceremony, and a variety of lawn games for entertainment afterwards.

Andrew set up a live stream for guests who were unable to attend due to Covid restrictions, and Emma Smart did an amazing job of capturing the day. I thought that Jess’ veil looked stunning as it floated in the breeze.

Both Mums were invited to share a reading, which was a really nice way of involving them in the ceremony. There were lots of happy tears, especially when Andrew and Jess shared their vows with each other.

“…I promise to love you with all I have to give and all that I am, completely and forever.”

“…I can’t wait to continue to make a life with you and have many adventures. With you by my side, I know we can get through anything.”

Something particularly special for me was feeling my baby fluttering while we were signing the paperwork. It was a magical experience and I am so grateful that this Little Bean has been surrounded by love and happiness as it grows.

All the best for married life, Andrew and Jess!

Liam & Sara

Liam and Sara were married on the lush green lawn of Whispering Oaks, surrounded by family, friends, and farm animals - including bunny rabbits, horses and one particularly vocal donkey!

BARNYARD WEDDING

28 NOVEMBER 2020 - WHISPERING OAKS, CANTERBURY

Liam and Sara were married on the lush green lawn of Whispering Oaks, surrounded by family, friends, and farm animals - including bunny rabbits, horses and one particularly vocal donkey!

Page bearer/Ring boy climbing fence to look at horse.jpg

The beauty of Whispering Oaks is that it is a ‘DIY’ venue… and Sara is SUPER crafty so it suited her to a tee! The reception was held in the barn and she did an amazing job with the signage, decorations and favours. I loved the way the whole family pulled together to get everything set up, too - it reminded me of my own wedding.

The ceremony itself was beautiful. I love it when a bride and groom allow themselves to be vulnerable and feel into all of the emotions of the occasion. Happy tears are the best! Little Connor was a gorgeous ring bearer and I loved inviting Liam and Sara’s Mums to be the witnesses.

“…Although I may not be perfect, I vow to support you throughout life’s ups and downs, and make sure I wrap my arms around you every night before we go to sleep. I love you Sara, and I am excited to see the future we create together...”

“…You are my better half and my best friend. I will love you, honour you, respect you, and cherish you though all our adventures and challenges. I am yours forever and always…”

S&L-240.jpg

Another big highlight for me was working with Sarah Clements, who is not only an amazing photographer but has also become a friend. As always, she did an incredible job capturing all of the special moments throughout Liam and Sara’s day. She books out well in advance so make sure you get in touch soon if you want her to be part of your wedding!

We’d like to thank you again for helping make our day that much easier and for your personal touch!

P.S. Hot tip! We had a few issues with the sound system and I think it’s helpful to let you know that it doesn’t worry me at all when a sound system isn’t playing ball. As a primary school teacher, I am used to speaking to large crowds without a mic! However, it can make it tricky for your guests to hear your vows (particularly as you don’t really want to be shouting into your partner’s face, and are usually quite emotional during this time!). To ensure that everyone has the chance to hear them, you may choose to share your vows again during speeches later on in the evening. Totally up to you!

Alex & Kate

WOOLSHED WEDDING

10 DECEMBER 2020 - TIPAPA ESTATE, GRETA VALLEY

Susannah Blatchford

Alex and Kate were married at the beautiful Tipapa Estate on a gloriously sunny day. It was the perfect garden party - guests dressed to the nines and ready to celebrate in style! Musician Lee Martin set the scene, and photographer Susie Blatchford was there to capture every delicious moment. The bride and groom had worked closely with Kate from Collective Concepts to plan their bespoke ‘All for Love’ wedding package… and it was absolutely magical!

One of my favourite parts of the ceremony was Kate’s entrance with her Dad, Gavin. This is always such a significant moment between father and daughter - I am pretty sure every single person was reaching for the tissues (including me!).

I love getting to know couples and the journey they have shared leading up to their wedding day. Alex and Kate’s story began when they were just 15 - though Alex, thinking Kate was older than she really was and wanting to make a good first impression, lied and said he was 17. If ever there was a sign that two people were meant to be together, it would surely be the fact that these two lovebirds were born in the same hospital on the very same day… and years later, living in the same neighbourhood, their paths were destined to cross.

The pair chose to write their own vows - each starting with the qualities they loved about the other, and finishing with the same promises. “I promise to continue to love you, to respect and support you, to be patient with you, to work together with you to achieve our goals, to accept you unconditionally and to share my life with you forever.”

Susannah Blatchford

I loved everything about this couple and their wedding day. All the best for your next chapter - stay in touch! xx

REGISTRY WEDDING

20 NOVEMBER 2020 - SIGN OF THE BELLBIRD, CHRISTCHURCH

Lyttelton Harbour - Ryan and Katie's Wedding Registry Ceremony

The Sign of the Bellbird is a stunning location, situated near the top of Summit Road in the Port Hills. It is perfect for elopements and intimate ceremonies! The views over Lyttelton Harbour and Hoon Hay Valley are breathtaking and make for beautiful photos (even on my average phone camera!).

Choosing to get married in the evening, Ryan and Katie’s registry wedding was simply magical. They had only their very closest family members and friends present. Despite the windy weather, the stone heritage hut where we held the ceremony was sheltered and offered complete protection from the elements. It was cosy and intimate. There was laughter, tears and even a toast (yes, pack your chilli bin and champagne, friends!!). A perfect way to kickstart the weekend - and of course, the marriage of a lifetime.

After 15 years and two beautiful children together, Corey and Sarah were stoked to finally become Mr and Mrs Baker! They were married on the manicured lawn at Larcomb Vineyard, with a rustic red barn as the backdrop to their ceremony. I loved the entrance of the bridal party, lead by the cutest little Flower Girl and Page Boys you ever did see.

We acknowledged special family members and friends who are no longer with us, and those unable to travel due to Covid restrictions. Despite the rain, the smiles were bright - especially during Corey’s cheeky vows! And… instead of traditional confetti, the guests blew bubbles over the newly married couple as they walked down the aisle. Perfection!

“Sarah, my best friend, my love. You are the lucky one that gets to grow old with me… After being together for almost 15 years now, you have helped to shape me into the man I have become, and I am very grateful to have you by my side. With your kind heart, beautiful eyes and nice arse... I couldn’t ask for more!”

“Always remember I'd choose you, in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality… I'd find you and I’d choose you.”

One of the coolest things about Larcomb Vineyard is that there are plenty of different locations to take portraits. The contrasting colours of the bright red shed with the deep greenery of the forestry made for beautiful photos, and Charmayne from Whimsical Wedding Photography did an amazing job capturing this badass crew!
